Indonesian masked dance predates Hindu-Buddhist influences. Native Indonesian tribes still perform traditional masked-dances to represent nature and communicate with their ancestral spirits. 
Our collection of old hand carved wooden masks comes mostly from Java and Bali.
Each piece is unique and between 30 to 75 years old. Most masks were carved out of a single solid piece of local hard wood and hand painted with natural colors.
 
Macan , the Celestial Tiger, representing the element of fire and energy. Old primitive tiger mask from East Java. Wood, pigment and animal hair. Leather tongue.  Wood and pigment paint. Eyes from glass or porcelain. The long beaked bird represents spiritual power, a divine messenger and air.
